At Emergent, each of our sites plays an important role in supporting our business, culture, and mission – Rockville is no exception. Located just 10 minutes south of our corporate headquarters and 30 minutes from Washington DC, our Rockville site is at the center of Maryland’s life-sciences hub. The team includes manufacturing operations, quality, project management, engineering, and supply chain.
Rockville is a unique site that adds a cGMP live viral fill/finish facility to Emergent’s capabilities and is currently over 120 employees strong. The site supports both our Medical Countermeasures business and Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization, primarily utilized for the fill and finishing of our smallpox vaccine.
In Fall 2022, the site enhanced its offerings with the addition of the groninger® INTEGRA, a state-of-the-art high-speed fill/finish line with fully integrated isolator technology equipped to handle large-scale production of viral vaccines and therapeutics.
