Our Medical Education and External Research Grant Programs

Emergent is committed to supporting high-quality, un-biased, and evidence-based third-party medical education and externally sponsored scientific research. Emergent’s support is intended to expand the scientific and clinical knowledge of the disease states and therapeutic areas in our areas of interest.

Grants are never used to induce or reward the use, purchase, prescription, or recommendation of an Emergent product or service.  Submission of a proposal does not guarantee support.

Independent Medical Education

Independent Medical Education (IME) is defined as education for the advancement of excellence in medicine and healthcare in order to improve patient health outcomes by enhancing the knowledge of the medical community.

Emergent will consider funding educational grants that support independent, accredited and non-accredited medical education for health care professionals (HCPs). Regardless of whether a program is accredited or non-accredited, Emergent expects the same high standards to apply for all IME activities for HCPs and patients.

Funding Priorities

  • Opioid Antagonists in the Treatment of Opioid Overdose Emergencies

There is limited funding currently available across all therapeutic areas.

Funding Requirements

IME grant requests must (a) identify unmet educational needs related to Emergent’s therapeutic areas of focus, target audiences, and (b) demonstrate how the program will address such unmet educational needs. The educational design (the process of designing learning activities, content, tools and supports to enable a learner to meet a specific learning goal) should align with the proposed educational needs, audience(s), learning preferences, regionality, and content that enhance educational effectiveness within the proposed IME grant request.

Emergent personnel do not have any involvement with the development of content, organization and/or operations of its supported medical education programs.  Responsibility and control over the selection, content, faculty, educational methods, materials, and venue for an IME event belongs solely to the organizers/providers of the event. Emergent will not provide any advice or guidance to the IME provider regarding the content or faculty for any program that has received or will receive support from Emergent.
